Sowore Lampoons Trump, Says He's In Pains Over Trump Praising Of First Lady, Remi Tinubu

Activist and publisher of SaharaReporters online newspaper, Omoyele Sowore, says he is in deep pains following President Donald Trump's praising of Nigerian First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, on Thursday, February 5. 2026.

Trump, had while addressing attendees including members of the US Congress, religious leaders, and international dignitaries, described Oluremi Tinubu as a “very respected person," just as he highlighted her role in Nigeria’s Christian community and her pastoral contributions.

Trump's words, “We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria. A very lpected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much. It’s a great honour. Thank you very much. Very respected person, too. Thank you.”

However, reacting to the development, Sowore condemned the move, calling it “exactly the kind of shameless hypocrisy that defines global American politics today.

“Trump has no faith in anything but the power of money. He weaponizes religion when it helps him, then auctions the same faith to the highest bidder."

He also, accused Trump of using religion as a tool for propaganda and influence rather than genuine faith, pointing out that the US President, selectively celebratie VIPs when political or financial advantage is at stake.
