Applicant Urges "Wike's Judge" To Rescue Himself From ADC Matter Over Alleged Bias

A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mr. Nkemakolam Ukandu, says he does not want Justice Liman Suleiman to handle his case in court, accusing him of bias.

Ukandu said Suleiman is fond of giving rulings in favour of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Nyesom Wike's interest, in a bid to destroy all opposition political parties in the country.

In a motion on notice dated March 26, 2026, and filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ukandu stated that he would not get justice if Justice Suleiman, remained in charge of the matter, pointing out that the steps so far taken by the judge had shown some elements of bias.

He is therefore seeking an Order of the Honourable Court returning the case file in suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025 to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, for reassignment to another judge.

The applicant is further asking Justice Suleiman to stay further proceeding or presiding over the matter, pending the decision of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, to recuse himself from the matter.

In a -26 paragraph affidavit deposed by himself, Ukandu accused Justice Liman Suleiman of allegedly, giving rulings in favour of Nyesom Wike’s interest, an action which he said was geared towards destroying all opposition political parties in Nigeria.

The applicant, through his Counsel, Kalu Kalu, stressed that Justice Suleiman heard and granted an application without service of hearing notice and the application for amendment by his Counsel, hence, robbing the Judge of the jurisdiction to hear and entertain the application.

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, who was expelled from the ADC over alleged anti- party activities, had filed a suit challenging the manner in which Senator David Mark and others took over the leadership of the party.

Among the offences alleged to have been committed by Abejide included openly canvassing for President Tinubu’s second term, as well as challenging the leadership of ADC, including Hon. Nkem Ukandu, who is now the welfare secretary of the party, even as a member of the ADC.

The dispute, however, took a dramatic turn, with Ukandu, branding the presiding judge as Wike's judge, urging him to recuse himself from the case by handing over matter to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for re- assignment to another judge to ensure transparency and fairness.
