Kwankwaso Resigns From NNPP, Set To Join ADC

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP in 2023 and two- time governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,

 has resigned from the party.
Kwankwaso made this known in a statement dated Sunday, March 29, 2026, noting that the decision followed the need for a strategic political realignment amid the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the NNPP with immediate effect,” he said.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as its national leader and presidential candidate during the 2023 elections, describing the decision to leave the party as a difficult one.
According to the former defence minister, the current trajectory of the nation’s politics necessitated identifying with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to effectively pursue national change.
