Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has broken his silence on reasons why he sacked the Channels Tv Correspondent, Chris Mofatt, and his cameraman from the Government House in Uyo, the state capital.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has broken his silence on reasons why he sacked the Channels Tv Correspondent, Chris Mofatt, and his cameraman from the Government House in Uyo, the state capital.
However, Governor Eno said the Channels crew was not evicted but changed in perceived standard procedure, noting that the action was taken in good faith and not for any punitive motive.
“It is practised all over the world. If you have served at a post for up to 10 years and the CPS decides to ask for a replacement, that is not a fight.
“It is within the prerogative of his office. The governor does not even have to know. So there is no problem. This afternoon, Channels is here beaming us live. We work with all media houses,” (not individual reporters), he explained.
Eno, further noted that his administration recognized the place of the media in nation-building and would continue to work with the Fourth Estate of the Realm as valued partners.
However, reacting to Eno's explanation,
a legal practitioner and activist, Inebehe Effiong, expressed surprise over how the governor became pissed off that Channels TV published a video where he announced his plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, pointing out that Channels TV could not have covered the event without invitation.
