The Bauchi State Government has allocated N112.7 billion to the education sector in the 2026 budget. 

State Governor,  Bala Mohammed, who spoke said the development underscored government's commitment to human capital development.
He also, said the investment was aimed at improving the state’s education system and driving overall development.
Mohammed spoke on Saturday at the combined eighth, ninth and 10th convocation ceremony of Sa’adu Zungur University, SAZU, Gadau, Bauchi State, noting that education was a critical driver of societal growth.
He further said that his administration considered sustained investment in the sector key to the state’s future, pointing out that over 15 per cent of the state’s annual budgets has consistently been allocated to education.
According to Mohammed, N58.02 billion was earmarked for higher education in the 2026 budget, including N40.6 billion for capital projects such as classrooms, hostels, laboratories, ICT centres and staff quarters.
He further listed ongoing interventions at SAZU to include the construction of 20 classrooms, student hostels at Gadau and Yuli campuses, staff quarters, as well as improved security infrastructure among others.
The governor warned against practices that undermine academic integrity, such as drug abuse and sexual harassment, stressing that offenders would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“Universities must remain safe spaces for learning, dignity and growth,” he added.
