Non-payment Of Salaries: ASUU Orders Immediate Strike At Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASSU, Ahmadu Bello University, ABU , Zaria chapter, has directed it's members to withdraw their services forthwith. 

The chapter gave the directive during it's Congress meeting held on Wednesday, at the Abdullahi Smith Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Arts, Zaria, in Kaduna State, over persistent delay in payment of salaries, including the March 2026 pay cycle. 

"Members have been told to stop work immediately, and the branch has tied that order to unpaid salaries for March 2026.

"It also said the move follows the broader pre-NDC National Executive Council, NEC, resolutions on industrial welfare.

"The salary delay formed the core issue, and the welfare resolutions gave the action its wider union footing.

"The leadership says the service withdrawal will remain in place until all outstanding salaries are paid.

"Academic activities across Ahmadu Bello University are expected to feel the effect straight away. With members directed to withdraw services immediately, normal academic work now faces disruption," ASUU officials said.
