Security: Enugu Govt Honours Retiring Neighbourhood Watch Commander, Anselem Odo, With Certificate Of Recognition, Describes him as Akpo Aza

The Enugu State Government, has honoured the immediate past Commander of the Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Anselm Ezemuo Odo, otherwise known as Ezemuo, with a certificate of recognition.
Chief Odo, a retired police officer, was given the Certificate of Recognition as the Ochi Agha (War Commander) and Patron of Enugu State Neighborhood Watch Group on February 26, 2026, at his country home in Enugu-Ezike.
The State Director of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, Chief Uchenna Ozomgbachi, represented the
Commissioner in charge of Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Prof. Benedeth Ekwutosi Okoli, on the occasion.
Speaking through Ozomgbachi during the impressive ceremony, Commissioner Okoli said the presentation of Certificate/ Conferment of State Patron of the Neighbourhood Watch Group on Chief Odo, was in line with the state government's efforts to recognize those who had worked hard to improve the state.
Okoli commended Chief Odo for his unwavering commitment towards the security of lives and properties as the immediate former commander Neighborhood Watch, Igbo-Eze North Chapter.
According to the Commissioner, "We are glad for your quality and timely services delivered to the Enugu State Government through the Neighborhood Watch Group during your time as the commander in Igbo-Eze North.
"Chief Anselem Odo, on behalf of the Enugu State Neighborhood Watch, I present this Certificate of Recognition to you because of your excellent services. It's your good work that has fetched you this recognition."
Reacting, to the development, the traditional ruler of Imufu Autonomous Community, Igwe Remigious Attah, commended the Enugu State Government for rewarding hard work through the Certificate of Recognition presented to Chief Odo.
Also, a former South East Zonal Editor of Vanguard Newspapers, Chief Emeka Mamah, who spoke on the occasion, described the recipient, Chief Odo as a thorough - bred Police officer, who distinguished himself as a crime fighter, while in service. 'My brother, I have known you over the years, as a courageous officer. I thank the Enugu State Government for recognizing your efforts, while in the service of your fatherland. This singular action of the state government will spur others to work harder, knowing that their efforts would not be in vain.
"I feel very happy today because it's good for government to recognize those who work hard. Anselem is my brother and I'm happy for him.
"My advice to the youths, I mean those who don't have white kola jobs is for them to learn some trades, work hard and keep themselves busy. They should shun criminal activities," Mamah stated.
Speaking shortly after receiving his certificate of recognition, Chief Odo, thanked God for His abundance grace, that kept him alive after working for 35 years as a police crime fighter and another five years as Commander of Neighbourhood Watch in Igbo Eze North Local Government
He then commended the immediate past Local Government Chairman of the area, Engr. Williams Ejike Itodo for appointing him Commander after retiring from the police.
He also lauded the leadership of state Governor, Dr Peter Ndubisi Mbah, through the Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Prof. Okoli, and the current Chairman of the local government, Engr. Uche Michael Ogalla, over their support, which led to his award of certificate of recognition.
"I'm thrilled, and lack the appropriate words to express my gratitude. However, my thanks goes to State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, and the commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication. I'll always appreciate Hon. Ejike Itodo, who during his tenures appointed me to work under him. I also thank Hon. Engr. Uche Ogalla for the quality time we worked together", Chief Anselem noted.
