Presidency Denies "Tinubu Poison" Rumours, Describes Story Fake And Entirely Fabricated

The Nation --------- The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that an unnamed chef at the State House, Abuja, had been arrested over alleged plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Responding to an enquiry by The Nation, on Sunday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Tope Ajayi, described the allegation as fabricated.

It's "fake" Ajayi said in a brief response when contacted by The Nation on the matter, firmly debunking the claim.

The clarification followed the circulation of an online report alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa had been apprehended in connection with an alleged poisoning attempt. The report, however, cited no credible source, official statement or verifiable details to support its claims.

Despite the absence of substantiated information, the story quickly gained traction across social media platforms, triggering speculation and concern among sections of the public.

Observers note that misinformation involving the presidency or national security often travels rapidly online, underscoring the need for responsible digital engagement.

As of press time, no security agency had confirmed any investigation or arrest linked to the allegation. The Presidency’s swift denial appears aimed at quelling anxiety and reinforcing confidence in security arrangements at the State House.
