Kidnappers who attempted to abduct a Catholic Parish Priest have killed two members of the Enugu Neighbourhood Watch Group and seriously wounded another.
The kidnappers also abducted a man, Patrick Eze and his daughter from Umu Ossai clan in Aguibeje, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, early Saturday morning. They kidnappers are yet to make contacts with the families of the kidnapped persons or demand ransom as at press time.
Security sources said that the kidnappers had invaded the Parish House at Aguibeje, following which the priest raised alarm, attracting operatives of the Neighbourhood Watch Group in Aguibeje.
It was said that following gun duel that ensued, the kidnappers who had superior gun power killed two operatives of the Neighbourhood Watch while some of the kidnappers escaped with severe gunshot wounds.
Family sources noted that it was while the kidnappers were escaping into the bush between Aguibeje and Kogi State that they abducted Patrick Eze and her daughter. They had forced their way into Patrick's residence and demanded food which they ate before abducting the man and his daughter.
