The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says its operatives have arrested 62 year-old Lagos-based businessman Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano, while attempting to travel to g 1.589 kilograms concealed in his stomach. This was even as the Marine Command of the agency intercepted 31 cocaine wraps from a suspect arriving from Côte d’Ivoire.
The agency made these known a statement noting that Izueke was arrested on Saturday, January 31, 2026, during passenger clearance for Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940 to China via Addis Ababa.
“When taken for a body scan, he tested positive for ingesting illicit drugs and was promptly placed under excretion observation. While under observation, he expelled 95 pellets in seven excretions,” NDLEA stated, adding that Izueke, who claimed to run a clothing and auto parts business in Lagos, admitted trafficking cocaine to raise funds to complete his country home in Iwollo, Enugu State.
In separate operations, NDLEA seized 627.7 kilograms of skunk (cannabis) from a makeshift warehouse in Kubwa, FCT, just as it also, foiled attempts by Ebube Okeke, Evans Ugwu, Mohammed Eze Arinze, and Friday Michael to smuggle methamphetamine hidden in MP3 speakers from Enugu to Abuja and Kaduna, arresting them between February 6 and 7, this year.
On February 6, officers intercepted 1.8 kilograms of meth concealed in Hollandia yogurt packs from Lagos to Mubi, Adamawa State, with suspect Yusuf Abubakar, 32, in custody. Also, in Oyo State, the agency arrested Shuaibu Abdulrahman, 29, with 149.6 kilograms of skunk and Adeniyi Adeola (aka Prince) in Ibadan with over 128,000 units of tramadol and pentazocine.
This was even as drug kingpin Jimoh Nurudeen, 40, was also arrested in Ibadan with accomplice Ogundipe Yusuf, 27, along with 8 liters of precursor chemicals, cannabis, cash, and vehicles used in synthetic cannabis production.
In Kwara State.
Furthermore, the NDLEA recovered 395,400 tramadol capsules concealed in a fuel tanker traveling from Lagos to Maiduguri.
In Imo and Ondo states, operatives seized 203kg and 420kg of skunk, respectively
Also, in Badagry, Lagos, additional seizures included Canadian Loud ann d Colorado cannabis from Adekunle Oluwatosin Olajide in Lagos, while various drugs were seized from one Emeka Okeke in Enugu.
