Police DSP Kills Self In Minna Over Arms Supply To Bandits, Terrorists
Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, attached to Mopol 12, Niger State, Isah Abdullahi, has shot himself dead following allegations of arms and ammunition supply to bandits and other terrorists.
Isah, a.k.a Kunkuri, was the Head of Armoury at Mopol 12, located within B Division, Police Command, Paikoro Road, Minna.
Sources said that a team of detectives from Abuja visited the division for a routine annual audit of arms and ammunition, adding that during the audit, it was discovered that 13 AK-47 rifles and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition were missing or unaccounted for.
The audit reportedly covered only the AK-47 section before the tragic incident occurred.
Key arrests & confessions:
Inspector John Moses, attached to the Niger State Government House, was arrested.
He reportedly confessed that the late DSP supplied him arms and ammunition, which were sold to bandits and hoodlums in Erena community, Shiroro LGA, through his brother.
Operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, took suspects to Abuja for further investigation.
It was further said that the DSP was brought back from Abuja and taken to the armoury for physical auditing, when he  reportedly picked a pistol from the armoury and shot himself in the head, dying instantly.
The armoury is said to be electronically controlled, and only the DSP had access, giving him the opportunity to reach the weapon.
Officers who accompanied him have been arrested for negligence and are facing orderly room trial.
Four other police officers linked to the late DSP are under interrogation.
A special NSA team is currently guarding the armoury 24/7.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
The deceased DSP reportedly owned multiple houses in choice areas of Minna and several cars.
The Niger State Police Commissioner, Adamu Elleman, confirmed the incident, even as the Police PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated the incident occurred on 16 December 2025 around 2:30pm, during the audit process.
