Former Anambra Gov. Chris Ngige arrested in Abuja
Former governor of Anambra State, who was also a former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige is said to be under arrest in the Federal Capital Territory,, FCT, Abuja.
Former governor of Anambra State, who was also a former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige is said to be under arrest in the Federal Capital Territory,, FCT, Abuja.
Although details of the arrest are still scanty, security sources said that Dr Ngige was picked up by armed security operatives from his house on Justice Mohammed Bello Road in the FCT.
Reasons or the particular security organisation behind the arrest have not been known even as no security agency has issued statement on the reported operation.
Ngige’s arrest came just days after his convoy was attacked in Anambra State.
A police officer was shot during the attack, with many others sustaining injury.
As sitting governor, Ngige was also abducted by certain political forces in 2003 during the President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration.
