Special Adviser to the President on Information Communication and Security,
Senator Shuaib Salis spoke at the  2025 NUJ Press Week in Ogun State, describing the project as a turning point in Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Salis further said that every state, local government, and ward would benefit from the project, even as researches had  shown that a 10% increase in broadband penetration can significantly boost the nation’s GDP.
The special adviser alongside the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr. Bosun Tijani, also spoke of plans to attract global investors to Nigeria’s digital sector, but, however, cautioned that AI presents new challenges to journalism and called for a review of media training to ensure professionalism in the AI era.
