The jailbreakers were said to be those convicted due to their ignoble roles in compromising military programmes in the ongoing terror war in the Northeast.
It was learnt that the incident occured at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in the early hours of the day at the Provost Marshal's Detention Camp where both soldiers and members of the Police Mobile Force, MOPOL, who had been condemned to death were awaiting execution.
The condemned security officials faced different charges of misdemeanor over infractions following the ongoing terror war in Borno and other parts of the northeast.
The incident occured at the 7 Division Provost Marshal's Detention Camp where soldiers and Mobil police men were being detained on the early hours of Monday.
The sources said, "A good number of inmates, including some that were sentenced to death or long term prison terms, escaped from detention. The manhunt is already in progress in an attempt to recapture them.
"However, a good number of others that did not escape have been sent to civil correctional center since yesterday, November 5, 2025.
"Meanwhile, the former Commanding Officer, 7 Division Povost Group, Lt Col. Omosigho who was supposed to have handed over to a new CO before now, but was yet to do so has been given the mandate to recapture the escapees.
"The former Commanding Officer would have left office this weekend," tomorrow.
