The main opposition Labour Party in Enugu State, has yet lost another member of the House of Assembly to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The member of the party representing Nsukka West State Constituency, Hon. Malachy Okey Onyechi, resigned and joined the PDP .on the floor of the Assembly on Thursday.
He further said that he was happy with Governor Peter Mbah's style of leadership of the state in the last two years, especially in the area of provision of democracy dividends.
Onyechi’s defection has brought to eight members of LP members that crossed over to the ruling party.
Last year, six members of the opposition crossed over to PDP in one day, thus opening the floodgate of defections that has led some members of the House of Representatives from the state to equally dump LP for PDP.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Uche Ugwu, who read Onyechi’s letter of defection asked him to stand to acknowledge that it was he that wrote the letter and that it was not under compulsion.
