Kano Police Arrest Three Over Alleged Murder Of 35 -year Old Mother, Three Children

The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a 35- year old housewife, Fatima Abubakar and her six children, in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of Kano State.
The victims were murdered on Saturday, January 17, 2026 even as the youngest baby was thrown into a well.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, January 18, noting that those arrested included one Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters Kano, Isyaku Yakubu, 40, of Sagagi Quarters Kano and and Yakubu Abdulaziz, 21, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters Kano.
According to Kiyawa, the suspects, were arrested during a sting operation that lasted between 10 pm on January 17, 2026 and 4 am of 18th January 2026, today.
The statement further noted that the 
leader of the gang, Umar Auwalu, who is a nephew to the deceased woman has confessed to the crime, noting that the same gang had been responsible for series of gruesome killings and attacks in the recent past. Such attacks included the killing and burning of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters Kano. 
Items recovered from the suspects included four clothes with blood stains, the deceased’s two mobile phones, a cutlass, a club (Gora), and some amount of money robbed at the scene, as well as other dangerous weapons.
