JAMB Approves 150 As Cut-off Mark For UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced 150 as the benchmark cut-off marks for the 2026 admissions into tertiary institutions.
What the New Cut-Off Mark Means
With the new benchmark set at 150, candidates who meet or exceed this score now stand a chance of gaining admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
However, it is important for candidates and parents to understand that the JAMB benchmark is only the minimum national requirement as individual institutions still have the authority to determine their own admission standards and may choose to set higher cut-off marks depending on the competitiveness of their courses and the number of applicants. The University of Nigeria, UNN, for example has 200 marks as its own cut - off mark, even as
highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Nursing, Engineering, and Mass Communication may still require significantly higher scores for admission consideration.
