The new benefits, known as “professorial cadre allowance,” applies exclusively to academics within the professorial and readership ranks.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the development on Wednesday in Abuja during the presentation of the renegotiated agreement between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
According to the minister, the allowance forms part of broader efforts to address lecturers’ welfare following engagements with ASUU.
