The Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos, UNILAG, has made history by producing 18 all- female first class graduates in the 2023/ 2024 academic session.
This feat was revealed during the university's 55th Convocation Ceremony which began Tuesday in Lagos.
Altogether, 16,590 students will be conferred with degrees and diplomas during the convocation ceremony which will last for three days.
The superlative Mass Communication graduates include Frances Odogu,Joy Imanah, Feranmi Abiola, Ahuruele Akani, Oyindamola Arikawe, Ifedayo Ayilaran, Demiladeogo Bankole, Olaide Bankole, Eniola Daramola, Faith Enang, Temiloluwa Igbinlade, Ifeoma Iwelunmor and Chelsea Jegede.
Others are Peace Onuoha, Opeyemi Kareem, Eunice Obidi, Mofesola Olanrewaju and Funmilola Onabanjo.
Out  of the 16,590 graduating students, 
9,865 will receive first degrees and diplomas, while 6,659 will be awarded postgraduate degrees, apart from the 66 graduating students from the UNILAG Business School, ULBS.
The university commended the graduates for their diligence and resilience in achieving academic excellence.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, praised the university’s groundbreaking achievements in innovation, infrastructure, and academic excellence.
Ogunsola further noted  the MED-AFRICA GMP Laboratory, the first of its kind in West Africa, located in the Faculty of Pharmacy, adding that,  “The $450,000 state-of-the-art facility facilitates groundbreaking research on HIV prevention.” 
She also spoke about the inauguration of the African Centre of Excellence for Drug Research, Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science, ACEDHARS, funded by the World Bank, and the launch of the Green Air Initiative, which introduced eight electric buses for campus transportation.
Ogunsola further acknowledged the contributions towards the development of the institution by Tunde Fanimokun, who made a N14.5 billion pledge for hostels and research centres, as well as the support from the Lagos State Government for various projects.
