The All Progressives Congress, APC, member representing Agege Federal Constituency, Dr Wale Ahmed, has lampooned the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar for challenging President Bola Tinubu over his credentials, describing the debate as unproductive.
In a statement, the lawmaker said the renewed controversy surrounding Tinubu’s academic and National Youth Service Corps credentials reflected the opposition’s failure to offer voters compelling alternatives on the economy, security, infrastructure and employment.
He spoke against the backdrop of a suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja by Atiku and the ADC, seeking Tinubu’s disqualification from the 2027 presidential election over alleged discrepancies in his NYSC certificate.
According to Ahmed, although Atiku was entitled to challenge Tinubu’s qualifications, the court should determine the validity of the claims.
His words, “The case remains pending, and the allegations have not been established by a court.
“Nigerians deserve a campaign of ideas, not an endless recycling of allegations.
“If anybody believes President Tinubu has failed, let that person tell Nigerians what he will do differently and how he will do it.
“If there is a case before a court, let the court determine it. But an election campaign cannot be reduced to litigating the same allegations repeatedly.
“Nigerians are asking a bigger question: who has the ideas and capacity to move Nigeria forward?”
