Ahmed said Nigerians were more interested in the capacity of presidential candidates to address the country’s problems than in what he described as the endless recycling of certificate allegations.
In a statement, the lawmaker said the renewed controversy surrounding Tinubu’s academic and National Youth Service Corps credentials reflected the opposition’s failure to offer voters compelling alternatives on the economy, security, infrastructure and employment.
He spoke against the backdrop of a suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja by Atiku and the ADC, seeking Tinubu’s disqualification from the 2027 presidential election over alleged discrepancies in his NYSC certificate.
According to Ahmed, although Atiku was entitled to challenge Tinubu’s qualifications, the court should determine the validity of the claims.

Ahmed then, urged Atiku to present a credible alternative programme and allow voters compare his proposals with Tinubu’s record in office, as the decisive question in 2027 would not be which candidate could generate the loudest controversy but who possessed the ideas, experience and capacity to move the country forward.
