Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,  says that his administration has so far, disbursed N16 billion on welfare of retirees with the launch of the third phase of pension payments, totaling N5 billion. 
This was contained in a statement by his Spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday, noting that,  the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to support retirees who dedicated many years of service to the state. 
According to the state government, the commencement of the third phase highlights the administration’s unwavering focus on addressing outstanding pension liabilities and ensuring the financial security of Kano’s senior citizens.
Earlier, the governor allocated N6 billion in the first phase, targeting retirees below Grade Level 10, with an additional N5 billion in the second phase to those who served the state for 35 years.
The governor then, reaffirmed his administration’s determination to settle all outstanding pension and gratuity benefits for retirees in Kano, assuring them that their entitlements would henceforth, be paid promptly as pay back for their valuable contributions towards the development of the state.
His words, “Our administration remains fully committed to addressing the challenges retirees face. We will continue to prioritize their welfare and ensure that all pending benefits are settled transparently and on time."
Meanwhile, the third phase of the payments marks a critical step in the  governor’s efforts to restore trust in the state’s pension system and enhance the well-being of Kano’s senior citizens.
