A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, has sacked the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as well as voided all the processes that led to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2027 general election.
The court presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, who delivered the judgment, also nullified the emergence of Rauf Aregbesola and others as national officers of the party including the Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.
According to Lifu, all candidates nominated for the 2027 general elections following their emergence from illegal and unlawful leadership of ADC.
Justice Lifu upheld arguments of the plaintiff and former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Nafiu Bala Gombe, that David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, unlawfully emerged as leaders of the party.
Gombe listed the ADC, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola and Ralph Nwosu as 1st to 5th defendants respectively.
In his judgement, Justice Lifu upheld Gombe’s claims and granted the reliefs sought.
However, reacting to the development, the ADC National Welfare Secretary, Nkemakolam Ukandu, who was joined as an interested party in the suit, said the party would appeal the ruling.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, also, laughed off the judgment, noting that there was "no shaking."
