Iran’s Newly Appointed Defence Minister Killed Just A Day After Amid US Strikes

-----The Iranian Revolutionary Guards general Majid Ebnelreza, who was appointed as the interim Minister of Defense has lost his life during ongoing military actions carried out by Israel and the United States, according to Israeli Channel 12.

His death signifies another severe setback for Iran’s military hierarchy amid the escalating hostilities between Tehran and U.S.-Israeli forces.

So far, these military operations have significantly impacted Iran’s top defense officials, complicating an already tense situation in the region.

Ebnelreza was appointed as acting defence minister on March 2, 2026, by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian after the former defence minister, Aziz Nasirzadeh, was killed in a combined U.S.-Israeli airstrike on February 28, 2026, which also aimed at other high-ranking Iranian officials and intensified the country’s lack of leadership.

Nasirzadeh’s passing highlighted how quickly the conflict has taken the lives of key military leaders and altered Iran’s defense framework.

The reported killing of Ebnelreza so shortly after his appointment shows the intensity and accuracy of the airstrikes, which have consistently targeted important locations throughout Iran.

Experts now caution that the swift removal of multiple defense leaders could lead to further instability in Iran’s command structures at a crucial time in the larger Middle Eastern conflict, raising concerns about how Tehran will uphold its defensive plans under ongoing strain.
