A prominent journalist, Alphonsus Ejiofor Eze, who died at the age of 60, has been buried in his country home, Oka Itchi, in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Former NJF Member, Late Alphonsus Nweze Departs In A Hail Of Glory
A prominent journalist, Alphonsus Ejiofor Eze, who died at the age of 60, has been buried in his country home, Oka Itchi, in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Born on October 2, 1965, Nweze as he was popularly known died on his way back to Asaba in Delta State on October 7, 2025.
He worked in various media organisations including the Guardian Newspaper between 1987 and 1988; Sporting Champion and Champion Newspaper as well as the Newswatch and Daily Times in Anambra State at various times.
Nweze was also a devout Christian who lived his life with conviction and grace as a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church.
He was once the President, Council of Foursquare Men, CFM. 
The journalist was pursuing his PhD programme in English and Literary Studies when he died.
In its tribute to the departed journalist, the Nsukka Journalists Forum, NJF, described Nweze as a foundation member of the union, who played a significant role in shaping the future of the organisation.
In a statement jointly signed by the NJF  Chairman, Benson Ezugwu and the Secretary, Felix Oguejiofor Abugu, the union noted, "We received with rude shock, and utter disbelief, the passing of one of our members, late Alphonsus Nweze, to eternal glory. But we will never question God, for His will always remain the ultimate decision. While we mourn his demise, we pray that his gentle soul will find rest in the blossom of the Almighty God."
