Brig. Commander, Musa Now Confirmed Killed By ISWAP In Borno
It has now been confirmed that Brigadier Commander M. Uba has been killed by ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.
Uba, Brigade Commander of Damboa was confirmed killed by ISWAP terrorists on Monday.
Before his unfortunate capture, the Brigade Commander made a  shared video stating that he was okay. Unfortunately, after several hours,  it was noted that he lost orientation within the Sambisa Forest, where he had gone with troops on  routine patrol before he was ambushed by ISWAP/ Boko Haram terrorists with troops.  Uba was ambushed alongside troops of 25 Task Force  Brigade, who were on patrol to secure communities around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
"The troops had came under sudden and heavy insurgents fire while returning from an otherwise  successful patrol within the fringes of Sambisa Forest.
"The patrol team comprising members of Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, however, courageously fought through the   insurgents ambush and mines with superior fire power, forcing them to withdraw in disarray, thus abandoning their mission."
A statement signed by Lt Col  Appolonia Anele, had noted, adding that, "During the encounter two brave soldiers and two heroic CJTF members paid the supreme price while on active service to the nation." Commending the troops for their gallantry, the Army high command commiserated with families and associates of the deceased gallant officers for their heroic sacrifice to the nation.
The Army Headquarters had also debunked the fake narrative going round some online media platforms, alleging the abduction of the Brigade Commander.
"The general public is hereby advised to disregard the fake news regarding the incident while praying for the continuous success of our gallant service men and women.
"The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt Gen. Waidi Shaibu, salutes the uncommon bravery, resilience and sacrifice of the gallant troops who have continued to operate in one of the most dangerous theatres of conflict on behalf of our dear nation.
"Their unflinching commitment, even in the face of grave danger, remains a powerful reminder of the daily sacrifices being made by our gallant service men and women to keep Nigeria safe.
ISWAP had ambushed the troops, using mines. Gen Una who was earlier declared missing was later reported found, and a reinforcement was sent to bring him back.
