Troops Recapture Ngoshe Base from Insurgents in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have successfully recaptured a key forward operations base in Ngoshe, in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, in a coordinated offensive against insurgent elements operating in the region.

Military sources said the operation was carried out with strong support from members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, as well as local vigilante groups and community hunters who joined troops in the push to reclaim the strategic location.

The successful outing marked another step in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts aimed at restoring security and stabilising communities in the North-East.

Security sources noted that the troops launched a decisive assault on the area after intelligence reports indicated that insurgents had attempted to establish control around the military outpost in Ngoshe.

Following intense fighting, the combined forces succeeded in dislodging the attackers and regaining full control of the forward operations base.

Military authorities stressed that the recapture of the base was crucial to strengthening security operations across the mountainous border communities around Gwoza, an area that has witnessed repeated insurgent activities over the years.

The collaboration between the Nigerian Armed Forces and local security volunteers such as the Civilian Joint Task Force has continued to play a significant role in intelligence gathering and operational support in the fight against insurgency.

Community vigilantes and hunters, familiar with the difficult terrain around Ngoshe, allegedly helped to guide troops and secure surrounding routes during the operation.

Security experts say such partnerships have proven vital in sustaining military pressure on insurgent groups operating in remote communities across Borno State.

Residents in nearby communities welcomed the development, expressing hope that the restored military presence would help prevent further attacks and allow displaced families to gradually return to their homes.
