NNPC Dismisses 200 workers, top officials
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has sacked over 200 workers and other top officials in a major reorganization in the company. The NNPC also sacked ithe managing directors of the three refineries under the conglomerate.

The NNPC also sacked ithe managing directors of the three refineries under the conglomerate.
They include the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company, and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company.
The reorganization started shortly after the removal of the former Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, of the NNPCL,Mele Kyari, on April 2, 2025.
Those who have been shoved aside include several senior officials who were closely associated Kyari, like Bala Wunti, who previously headed the National Petroleum Investment Management Services, NAPIMS.
Others include the former Managing Director of the Kaduna Refinery, Ibrahim Onoja, as well as the Chief Compliance Officer, Lawal Sade. Shade also, formerly served as head of the NNPC Trading group.
Apart from these affected officials, the new management also fired many officers who had one year to retire from the company.
The leadership overhaul started with the appointment of Bayo Ojulari as Kyari’s successor.
Since assumption of duty, Ojulari has pushed for internal restructuring aimed at repositioning the company’s operations.
Following the development, Maryam Idrisu now leads NNPC Trading, which handles crude oil transactions, while Obioma Abangwu has taken the role of chief liaison officer for board matters.
