Nigerian govt provides solution to Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN rift
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, has has provided solution to the ongoing face-off between the Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, according to the Chief Executive Officer of NUPRC, Gbenga Komolafe.
This is coming against the backdrop of the nationwide strike announced by PENGASSAN on Sunday,  to pressurise the Dangote Refinery to reverse the sack of over 800 workers.
The union further ordered its members across the country to halt gas and crude supply to the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery from Sunday.
Komolafe urged both parties to embrace dialogue inorder not to disrupt the country’s energy supply.
He also asked all parties in the dispute to seek common ground to resolve the issues in the interest of the country.
His words, “Regardless of the fact that the issues involved are purely mid- and downstream affairs, our take is that parties should refrain from what will cause disruption in energy supply in the country. We believe that the issues involved are issues that parties can actually sit down and discuss and reach an amicable solution for the good of the country.”
However, reacting to the development, Dangote Refinery described the union’s move as economic sabotage, asking the Federal Government to call PENGASSAN to order.
