Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow
over the passing of Gen. Abdullahi Mohammed, former Chief of Staff to
Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, describing him
as “a patriot and dedicated public servant.”
In a statement issued on Friday, Dr. Jonathan said Gen. Mohammed’s
death is “a huge loss to the nation,” noting that he lived an exemplary life of honour, loyalty, and dedication to duty.
“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Gen.
Abdullahi Mohammed, a distinguished military officer and celebrated
public servant who served our country with honour and distinction,” Dr. Jonathan said.
The former President recalled that as Chief of Staff to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umar Yar’Adua, Mallam Mohammed played a vital role in consolidating Nigeria’s democracy especially in the 4th Republic and ensuring stability within the Presidency during a
critical period in the nation’s history.
“ Abdullahi Mohammed was a notable statesman well known for his
humility, devotion to duty and contributions towards enhancing the nation’s security architecture. He provided stability and continuity
in government and will be remembered for his professionalism and commitment to national service,” Jonathan added.

and a man who gave his best in every assignment he undertook,” he

The former President extended his condolences to the Mohammed family,
the Government and people of Kwara State, and all who had the privilege of working with the late elder statesman.
