Israel Kills Hezbollah's Commander, Abu Ali Riyan, In Lebanon Airstrike

The Israeli Military has killed a senior Commander from the Hezbollah's elite Radwan squad, in an airstrike last week.

According to a report by The Times Of Israel on March 12, 2026, the Israeli military identified the senior commander from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force as Abu Ali Ryan, who was killed in an airstrike carried out last week in southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces identified the Ali Riyan, stating that he was targeted during an airstrike on Saturday in the town of Harouf in southern Lebanon, as part of Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah positions amid heightened tensions along the northern border.

According to the military, Riyan oversaw Radwan Force activities in southern Lebanon and played a key operational role within the unit. The IDF described him as a “central figure responsible for coordinating operations, recruiting operatives, and managing the unit’s weapons supply chain.”

The Israeli military said its recent operations have inflicted heavy losses on Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon since the latest escalation began earlier this month. The IDF reports that more than 350 terror operatives have been killed during the fighting, the majority of them members of Hezbollah.

Among those casualties are more than 100 fighters belonging to the Radwan Force, which is considered one of Hezbollah’s most capable and specialized combat units.

The IDF also said it has targeted the group’s infrastructure, reporting that more than 60 Radwan Force command centers have been struck during the campaign.

The Radwan Force had long been assigned the mission of infiltrating Israeli territory in a future conflict. According to the IDF, the elite unit spent years preparing Hezbollah’s “Conquer the Galilee” plan before the 2023–2024 war, during which much of the organization’s senior leadership was eliminated.
