Gov Diri Suspends Ongoing Recruitment Of Secondary School Teachers Over Alleged Irregularities

The Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri has directed the immediate suspension of the ongoing recruitment of secondary school teachers in the state due to alleged irregularities.

The Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri has directed the immediate suspension of the ongoing recruitment of secondary school teachers in the state due to alleged irregularities.
The governor also, suspended the issuance of employment letters to those already recruited, indefinitely.
The state Commissioner for Education Hon. Dr. Gentle E. Emelah, announced stoppage of the recruitment exercise headed by the chairman of the Post Primary Schools Board.
According to the commissioner, the 
suspension was as a result of various controversies surrounding the exercise so far leading to some level of public mistrust in the process. 
"Therefore, the employment committee is by this announcement directed to hand over to the Ministry of Education the following data; names of all candidates who applied for employment.
*Names of all applicants who sat for the employment interview.
*Names of all applicants subsequently shortlisted.
*Names of all applicants issued appointment letters and 
*Names of all applicants documented among other relevant data to be submitted on or before Friday, January17, 2025."
"The general public is admonished to remain calm as the Bayelsa State Government is committed to a free, fair and transparent employment exercise that will be generally acceptable by all," the government added.
