Atiku Demands Daily Photo, Video Evidence As Tinubu Prays For Nigeria During Umrah Hajj

Former Vice President and the ADC Presidential candidate in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar has pooh-pooed the announcement by the presidency that President Bola Tinubu would pray for Nigeria while in Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.

Atiku asked whether President Tinubu's actual destination is France or Saudi Arabia, where he returned from about a month ago on September 29, 2026.
He however, called on Tinubu to provide daily photographic and video evidence of his announced Umrah pilgrimage, to convince Nigerians that he had actually gone on pilgrimage.
Shaibu's statement titled, "Tinubu's Umrah Announcement: Atiku Demands Daily Photo And Video Proof," accused Tinubu of using his announced Umrah pilgrimage as a smokescreen or subterfuge, saying credible intelligence available to him showed he would rather travel to France.
The statement signed by the Director of Strategic Communication, African Democratic Congress, ADC, Presidential Campaign Council, Phrank Shaibu, on Wednesday, Atiku, noted that Tinubu's pilgrimage announcement to Saudi Arabia could be another cover for a trip to France.
He stressed that intelligence reports
available to Atiku showed that Tinubu might only make a brief appearance in Makkah before travelling to France.
Atiku further raised questions about the purpose of the reported trip, linking his concerns to the President’s health and an alleged $20 billion loan request involving a French business partner.
He urged the Presidency to clarify the issues and disclose Tinubu’s complete travel itinerary.
He urged the Presidency to state clearly, with current and date-stamped photographs and videos showing Tinubu movements at the Kaaba, participating in the rites of Umrah if the President’s stated purpose was actually to pray for Nigeria.
He maintained that Nigerians should be able to verify the President’s presence in Makkah and know how he spends his time during the pilgrimage.
The former vice president said he and other Nigerians would join Tinubu in praying for the country’s peace and progress. He, however, warned against invoking the name of Allah in vain, arguing that a spiritual journey undertaken in the name of the nation should be approached with sincerity and transparency.
Atiku further argued that the President’s itinerary and the funding of the trip were matters of public interest as the journey had been presented as a mission for the country.
