2027: ADC Working To Adopt Consensus Presidential Candidate ---- Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said it was working hard to adopt a consensus approach in selecting its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, has said.
Abdullahi spoke when appeared "One-on-One" programme on  Arise Television, weekend, adding that, the party had the options of direct primaries and consensus for electing its presidential candidate.

Presidential aspirants in the ADC include former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Gregory Obi as well as the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
According to him, the indirect primaries are “no longer on the table”, as stipulated in the amended Electoral Act, stressing
that the best option for the party would be consensus.
His words, “We are trying as much as possible to adopt the consensus approach because that is the least costly for us. For us, the best case scenario is to be able to engineer consensus and that’s what we are working on."
Abdullahi lampooned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, pointing out that it's strength is tied to its current leadership, President Bola Tinubu.
“If you take power out of APC, APC is actually nothing. I know the party well.
“Post Bola Tinubu, they will unravel quickly, that even they would be surprised. He is the glue holding the party together.
“In any free and fair election in Nigeria today, there’s no way APC will win.
“Why is a party with 31 governors and about 90 percent of the national assembly still panicking? Why are they still trying to destabilise other opposition parties?
“They should be preparing for Tinubu’s win given their overwhelming governance, but they are unsettled because they know in a free and fair election, there is no way they can win. Nigerians are tired of them,” he said.
He described the governing party as a “special purpose vehicle” created to ensure the presidencies of the late Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu, adding that the party has largely fulfilled that purpose.
Abdullahi further pointed to the “APC’s apparent anxiety” ahead of upcoming elections, as proof that the party was not settled.
