Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu, says that 11,143 students will  receive different degrees and Diploma from the institution tomorrow Friday, December 20, 2024 out of which 195 obtained First Class honours.

Chigbu, spoke at the pre-convocation press briefing held at the Enugu Campus of the university Tuesday, noting that 4,165 got Second Class Upper Division with 5,197, obtaining Second Class Lower Division.
According to the Vice Chancellor,  659 will graduate with Third Class; 22 Pass; 889 unclassified while 16 obtained Diploma, with 1,356 obtaining Post Graduate Degrees and Diplomas.
Chigbu further said that, out of the 1,356 post graduate degrees and diplomas, 431 will earn Doctorate degrees; 848, Masters degrees while 77 got their Diplomas.
Speaking further, on the convocation, Chigbu said the University will hold Convocation lecture titled on Thursday (today) with the theme, “Harnessing Technological Teaching and Learning,” to be delivered by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association,NBA, Mazi Afam Osigwe, adding that the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri would be the chairman of the Convocation lecture.
He also, noted that two prominent Nigerians would on Saturday, be honoured with honorary doctorate degrees, while two retired professors would be conferred with Distinguished Emeritus Professor.  They are Professor Felix Ezema Onah of the Social Sciences and Prof. Isaac Uzoma Asuzu, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
On his achievements since assuming office four months ago, the Acting Vice Chancellor said he had been able to solve the perennial energy problem which had been bedeviling the institution over the years.
According to him, there was chaotic energy crisis resulting in power rationing, illegal connections, energy theft and irresponsible power usage but today the university has been able to grapple with it.
“Today, our inventiveness has seen not only a lasting solution of the crisis, we have gained deep insights into sustainable energy solutions for the future. The illegal connections, energy theft, irresponsible use and dereliction of duty that have sabotaged electricity supply in UNN have been diagnosed and cured to a very large extent,” he further added.
