... As parents lamb shoddy investigation, abandonment by government
he Enugu State Police command has released the body of the 21 year old Charity Ngozi Eze, who was taped and murdered by unknown assailants last year for burial.
Ngozi who hailed from Imufu Enugu Ezike was living with her parents in Abuja but relocated to her village to enable her attend extramural classes for last year's Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, JAMB, examinations when she killed by suspected rapists.
Ngozi's lamented that the police did not do much to carry out thorough investigation, especially as the Corona"s Inquest was delayed by the administration of the erstwhile state police commissioner, Mohammed Can- Malam until the arrival of the current Commisioner,
According to them, "Our daughter was murdered on March 26, 2019 but we found her corpse in the bush the following morning on March 27, and reported the matter to the police.
"We provided all the support and information needed by the police. We cooperated with them. We are poor but people rallied support for us. We virtually paid for everything but the police under Dan- Mallam frustrated the investigation.
"It was the arrival of the new commissioner that changed everything. Now, they have done the autopsy, which we paid for without help from the state or local government.
"We got approval to bury our daughter last week and arrangements have been concluded to bury her on August 14, 2020, after a funeral mass at Joseph's Catholic Church, Imufu. We're Christians and we believe that Ngozi's killers will be found. Nothing is hidden under the sun," they added.
