The Northern State Governors’ Forum, NSGF, has lamented the death of an elder statesman and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

Northern governors mourn Audu Ogbeh

The Northern State Governors’ Forum, NSGF, has lamented the death of an elder statesman and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

Ogbeh, also, a former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, died on Saturday at the age of 78.

Chairman of NSGF and Governor of Gombe, Inuwa Yahaya, spoke in a condolence message to Ogbeh family, 

describing Ogbeh as “a towering political figure, a statesman of uncommon intellect and an iconic son of Northern Nigeria.”

He further stated that Ogbeh devoted his life to national development and public service.

His words, “Chief Audu Ogbeh was an accomplished leader, a seasoned politician and multifaceted scholar whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and development will remain etched in history.

“He brought dignity and depth to every office he held and served the country with integrity and commitment.

“As chairman of the Northern State Governors’ Forum, I join the government and people of Benue, the Ogbeh family and indeed the nation in mourning a truly remarkable Nigerian.”

According to Yahaya, Ogbeh’s death was a huge loss to Benue, the north, and the entire country.

"The late former National Chairman of the PDP left behind a legacy of patriotism, intellectual depth, humility, and outstanding public service.

“Chief Audu Ogbeh was an accomplished leader, a seasoned politician and multifaceted scholar whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and development will remain etched in history," he added 

Yahaya prayed for the peaceful repose of Ogbeh’s soul and for strength and comfort to his family.
