The 2023 Campaign Coordinator of the
Tinubu- Shettima Presidential Organisation in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central between 2011 and 2019, made this known through his political group, the Senator Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum, after a two-day meeting in Kaduna.
A two-term senator and former factional leader of the APC in Zamfara, Marafa lost his bid to return to the Senate in 2023.
A communique by the forum noted that Marafa’s entire political structure in Zamfara has also dumped the ruling party, over what they described as injustice, mistrust, and neglect of Zamfara and its people by the APC-led Federal Government.
It is however, unclear if a formal resignation letter had been sent to the party by Marafa and his group, even as his
supporters stated that they were yet to choose a new party but would make their political direction known at a later date and time.
But, Marafa and his group further accused the national leadership of the APC and President Bola Tinubu of abandoning the principles on which the party was built, pointing out that they were sidelined in Zamfara despite their roles in securing electoral victory for the ruling party during the last election.
They also, accused the APC-led government of politicising insecurity in Zamfara State, stressing that the Kaura Namoda House of Assembly by-election, was marred by heavy security which was deployed for the polls, while rural communities that had suffered deadly bandit attacks weeks earlier were left without protection.
