One of the lawyers defending the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Onyedikachi Ifedi, says that the Federal Government has abandoned the appeal filed by his client challenging his conviction.
Ifedi, a member of the Mazi Nnamdi Global Legal Consortium, made this known in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the government had failed to file a response to the appeal within the time approved by law.
According to Ifedi the time allowed for the Federal Government to file its defence has elapsed, hence it has abandoned the case.
Kanu’s family and members of his defence team had accused the Federal Government of running from the courtroom after reports emerged that the appeal had not been listed for hearing.
