ICPC Returns El-Rufai To Its Custody
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related offences Commission, ICPC, has returned the former governor of Kaduna State and minister of Abuja Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to its custody.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related offences Commission, ICPC, has returned the former governor of Kaduna State and minister of Abuja Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to its custody.
El-Rufai was released from custody on March 27, 2026, on companionate reasons to bury his mother following her death in Egypt.
He was earlier arraigned on March 24, 2026, with the court adjourning his bail application till March 31, 2026.
El- Rufai had appeared at the Kaduna State High Court for a separate charge filed against him by the ICPC, but the matter could not proceed following the absence of the second defendant, hence the hearing, was then adjourned to April 10, 2026.
It was after the Kaduna State High Court appearance that the former governor was taken to the Federal High Court, Kaduna, where his bail application is expected to be heard.
