A former Biiafran Scientist who developed a Waste Oil Recovery Plant, and a Road Maintenance Equipment with locally produced consumables to be used for road maintenance in Nigeria, Dr Isaac Nnadi, is dead.
Nandi, worked under the late Prof Gordian Ezekwe, in the Research and Production, RAP, Division of the defunct Republic of Biafra during the 30 month civil war between Nigeria and then Biafra.
After the civil war, he also served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of of Scientific Equipment Development Institute, SEDI, Enugu.
Details about Nnadi are sketchy but one of his associates and founder of Nigeria and Entrepreneurship:Summit & Honors, NESH,
Chief Emeka Ugwoju, stated that he died after a brief illness in London, adding that, "Dr. Nnadi, was one of the last breed of brilliant young scientists who worked under the late Prof Gordian Ezekwe."
According to Chief Ugwoju, "It was in the process of trying to bring the products to the Nigerian market that Dr. Nnadi was introduced to him, by our late leader and mentor,Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu.
"Dr. Nnadi was a practical scientist. There were two products that he fabricated : A Waste Oil Recovery Plant, and 2. A Road Maintenance Equipment with locally produced consumables to be used by the for road maintenance in Nigeria.
"We were able to get the Federal Ministry of Environment then, to finance the production of a model prototype of the Waste Oil Recovery Plant which could then be produced in a large scale for deployment in different areas of the country.
"This Equipment which was produced on schedule for the Ministry by Dr. Nnadi and his team at UNSTP/UNN Consult, was to ensure that most waste oil from cars, generators among others were collected and recycled for re-use thereby reducing environmental pollution.
"Unfortunately, after the prototype was produced and supplied, the Federal Government didn't provide the enabling environment that would make possible, the commercialization of the plant.
"Until he died, Dr Nnadi was very committed to a project which we
believes will be a major driver of industrial development in South East and South South, Nigeria.
"This project is Aba Technical University/ Industrial Development Complex, planned as an initiative of Abia State Government and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, with private sector participation."
