Federal High Court Upholds David Mark As ADC National Chairman
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed Senator David Mark as the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, following   the dismissal of a suit challenging the legitimacy of the party’s National Executive Committee.
The court in its judgment in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025, delivered  on Thursday, 2 July 2026, by Justice Musa Suleiman Liman, dismissed the suit instituted by Hon. Leke Abejide, who sought to nullify the emergence of Senator Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary of the party, respectively.
The plaintiff had argued that the transfer of the party’s leadership did not comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act and therefore asked the court to restrain Senator David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the current National Executive.
After considering the arguments presented by all parties, the court found no merit in the suit and dismissed it, thereby affirming the legitimacy of the David Mark-led National Executive Committee.
The case is one of several legal proceedings arising from the ADC leadership restructuring and the judgment represents another significant legal victory for the party’s current national leadership as preparations continue for the 2027 general elections.
