Families Of Air India Plane Crash Victims To Get N180m Each
The parent company of Air India, Tata Group, says that families of the 142 persons who died in the crashed aircraft belonging to the airline will be compensated to the tune of about N180 million each.

Tata noted that families of the victims would receive ₹1 crore (about N180 million) following the air disaster on Thursday, noting that the flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident after take-off.
The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Out of this number, 169 were Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese and one Canadian.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured.
“Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who has lost his/ her life in this tragedy.
“We will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support.
“Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical’s hostel."
Meanwhile, Air India has disclosed it is organizing two relief flights, one each from Delhi and Mumbai, to Ahmedabad for the next of kin of passengers involved in the fatal crash and Air India staff.
Earlier, Chairman of Air India, Natarajan Chandrasekaran had said the primary focus of the airline following the crash was on supporting all the affected people and their families.
“We are doing everything in our power to assist the emergency response teams at the site and to provide all necessary support and care to those impacted,” Chandrasekaran further said.
