Chairman of Board of Trustees,BoT, South East, South- South Professionals, Chief Emeka- Ugwu- Oju, has bemoaned the rationale behind names of some beneficiaries of President Bola Tinubu's national honours over June 12, 1993, struggles.
Ugwu-Oju, himself a former member of NADECO, said that several members of the group who worked day and night for the revalidation of the mandate of Chief Moshood Abiola, who won the annulled election were not remembered by the president.
He spoke in a statement titled, "Re- National Honours For Some Of The Heroes of June 12."
 His words, "Some of us who were very active in the struggle to actualize the official announcement of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election result and the swearing into office of the actual winner of the election, and are still alive today, wish to thank Mr President, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, for honouring some of the heroes of the struggle by conferring on them national awards in different categories on Democracy Day 2025.
"We however will state for the records and for posterity that we believe there are some major omissions which should be rectified as soon as possible.  Below is a suggested list of some of the key Heroes of June 12 and the categories of National Awards that we believe they truly deserve. They include,
"Late Michael Adekunle Ajasin, GCON; Late Anthony Enahoro, GCON, Late Senator Abraham Adesanya, CFR, Late Chief Ayo Adebanjo, CFR, Late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, CFR, Senator Cornelius Adebayo, CFR and Late Chief Olanihun Ajayi, CON.
Others include Late Alhaji Ganiyu Dawodu, CON, Dr Kayode Fayemi, CFR, Chief Ayo Opadokun, CON, Senator Kofo Akerele Bucknor, CON; Late Chief Olu Benson Lulu- Briggs, CON; Prof Pat Utomi, CON; Aare Dele Momodu, CON, Mr Olisa Agbakoba, CON; Dr Usman Bugaje, CON; Col. Dangiwa Umar rtd, CON and Late Chief Arthur Nwankwo, CON.
They also, include late Chief Bobo Nwosisi, CON; late Chief Guy Ikokwu, CON; late Rev. Tunji Adebiyi, OON; late Chief Chris Ezeiyiaku, OON; Dr Albert Ndulue, OFR, Chief, Mrs Chika Ibeneme, OON; as well as Late Meshack Umeike, OON.
"For Nigerians who are not familiar with the names of Late Reverend Tunji Adebiyi and Late Chief Chris Ezeiyiaku, these two gentlemen were the trusted and reliable human Couriers of the NADECO Leaders during the Abacha Years who constantly risked their lives carrying messages which could not be discussed on phone by the NADECO leadership.
