END OF AN ERA AS BISHOP OKOBO GOES HOME
Today, we bid farewell to our revered father in the Lord, Bishop Francis Okobo, the first Bishop of Nsukka Catholic Diocese, as his body is laid to rest at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka.

Today, we bid farewell to our revered father in the Lord, Bishop Francis Okobo, the first Bishop of Nsukka Catholic Diocese, as his body is laid to rest at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka.
I am consoled by the fact that His Lordship lived to see the fulfilment of many of the initiatives and projects he championed, chief among them the successful completion of the cathedral during his lifetime. Bishop Okobo was a visionary shepherd who believed deeply in the Nsukka cause. Through the pulpit and beyond, he laboured tirelessly to ensure that the lives of our people were lived with dignity and meaning.
Having had the privilege of working closely with him on a number of progressive projects for the good of our people, I can testify that Bishop Okobo was not only a true man of God but also one who practised what he preached. His exemplary Christian life and unyielding sense of justice remain a lasting legacy.
As we commit his soul to the Lord, I pray for his eternal repose. May Bishop Okobo continue his service to our people through his heavenly intercessions, especially as we persevere in our struggle for the emancipation and uplift of our people.
