Editor's Mother, Lady Cordelia Ogbonne Anibeze To Be Buried In Enugu Saturday, February 8

The Matriarch of the Sylvester Anibeze family and mother of both the Editor of Saturday Vanguard, Onochie Aniheze and Professor Chike Anibeze, Lady Cordelia Ogbonne Anibeze, is to buried on.February 8, 2025, at her country home in Aguobu- Owa, Ezeagu Local Government of Enugu State.
Already, the Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mbah and his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodimma have condoled the Anibezes over the passing of their mother, Lady Anibeze.
Also, the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, also sympathised with the Anibeze family, praising the late matriarch’s remarkable life and legacy.
Lady Anibeze, died on December 24, 2024.
Her farewell rites began at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, with a three-day prayer session for the repose of her soul. Lady Anibeze was a prominent leader in the Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, and active in societies like the St. Anthony of Padua and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. 

Left to mourn her include the Editor of Saturday Vanguard, Mr Onochie Anibeze, Prof Chike Anibeze of Enugu State University, ESUT, many other children and grand children among others.

Governor Mbah’s Tribute

In his condolence letter to the Anibeze's  family, Governor Mbah expressed his heartfelt condolences, adding:
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the good people of Enugu State, I convey our sincere commiseration on the passing of your beloved mother, Lady Cordelia Ogbonne Anibeze (née Ezeilo).
“She was a woman of enduring and vehement faith who inspired peace and unity in her home and community. Her life was marked by boundless generosity and devoted service to God and humanity. She will be remembered for her unyielding hope, responsible motherhood, and rich legacies.”

Governor Uzodimma’s Message:
Also expressing his heartfelt sympathy,
Governor Uzodimma noted, “I received the news of your mother’s death with sadness. Although blessed with longevity, living to 94, she will still be deeply missed.
“As a practising Catholic, she undoubtedly enveloped you with maternal affection akin to our Mother Mary. Her physical absence will be painful, but her spiritual presence remains.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the good people of Imo State, please accept my sincere condolences. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”

NGE’s Tribute:
In its condolence message signed by the President of NGE, Mr. Eze Anaba, the NGE lauded Lady Anibeze’s impactful life:
“Lady Cordelia Ogbonne Anibeze was a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness, warmth, and wisdom. Her strength and compassion were evident in everything she did.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Anibeze family during this challenging time. May they find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.”
