Dalori Emerges New APC Chairman As Ganduje Resigns

Deputy National Chairman, North, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ali Bukar Dalori, has replaced Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party.

This followed the resignation of ex-Kano governor Ganduje as the party chairman on Thursday.

Ganduje assumed leadership of the party in August 2023, following the resignation of his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu.

APC spokesman Felix Morka who confirmed the development in a statement said, "His (Ganduje's) resignation, which is effective immediately, was offered to enable him attend to urgent and important personal matters.

“In his letter of resignation addressed to the National Working Committee, NWC, through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje expressed gratitude to President ... Bola Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve the party at the highest level.”

Morka further said Tinubu directed Dalori to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party to be summoned immediately to fill the vacancy created by the resignation.

Dalori, hails from Borno State, in the Northeast zone, while Ganduje is from Kano, in the North-West zone.

Ganduje, assumed leadership of the party in August 2023, following the resignation of his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu, from the North Central zone.

His tenure faced increasing resistance from within, particularly from those who viewed his appointment as a violation of the party’s internal zoning arrangements.

In January 2025, Tinubu appointed Ganduje as the Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN. He was also reportedly penciled as a non-career ambassadorial nominee.

Meanwhile, Ali Bukar Dalori, a seasoned politician with a strong background in grassroots politics, had earlier served as APC Chairman for Borno State.

Dalori is known for his leadership skills, strategic thinking, and ability to unite party members.

Early Life and Career

Born in Konduga, Borno State, Dalori started his political career at the local level, serving as Councilor and Chairman of Konduga Local Government Area.

His tenure as Borno APC chairman led the party to significant victories in the region, before being elected as Deputy National Chairman (North).

Leadership Style

Dalori is known for his inclusive approach, engaging with community leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society organizations to ensure party policies align with the people's needs.
