WTO Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has denied allegations of helping secure a $57.5 billion loan for the Biafran Republic Government in Exile, responding to claims made by self-proclaimed Biafran Prime Minister in Exile, Simon Ekpa.

Former Minister of Finance and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, WTO, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has debunked claims that she helped Biafran agitators to obtain a loan of $57.5 billion for the  Biafran Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE.

Okonjo- Iweala spoke in a statement on her X on Thursday while reacting to claims by the self- styled Biafran Prime Minister in Exile, Simon Ekpa, of her alleged  involvement in facilitating the humongous loan a for the Biafra Republic Government in Exile. 
Ekpa, had claimed in the now-deleted post on X, that both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, IMF, have agreed to loan $57.5 billion to BRGIE, and thanked "our sister, Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala for helping me to facilitate the loan."
Ekpa, had  further noted that the funds were meant to support the formation of a new government following a proposed declaration of Biafra independence on December 2, 2024.
His words, “The World Bank and IMF have agreed to loan the sum of $57.5 billion to Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, to form our government after December 2, 2024, declaration of Biafra. I thank our sister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for helping me to facilitate the loan."
However, reacting to Ekpa's comments, 
Okonjo-Iweala denied the allegation, describing the statement as outrageous falsehood.
She said, “I know no sensible person will believe what is contained in the outrageous tweet below, but in these troubled times, it is important to underscore that the statement is false. 
“Again, I enjoin all those seeking to misuse my name to desist." 
The former Nigerian Minister of Finance further urged individuals misusing her name to desist from such actions forthwith.
