50 Suspected IPOB Members Cleared Of Terrorism Charges

A Federal High Court sitting  in Abuja has cleared over 50 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who were charged for terrorism-related activities.

The ruling court presided over by Justice James Omotosho, ruled that the prosecution could not prove its case beyond resealable doubt.
According to the suit, filed by the Inspector-General of Police, the charge arose from an incident in December 2023, when the defendants were arrested in Umunze Village, Anambra, while allegedly traveling in a truck, claiming that, they were preparing for unlawful activities, citing items like caps with IPOB symbols and spiritual charms.
However, Justice Omotosho ruled ruled that the prosecution’s evidence did not establish the suspects connection to terrorism, and hence dismissed all the charges against the accused persons.
