No fewer than 300 patients in Enugu metropolis were, on Tuesday, attended to by by a team of specialist doctors who conducted free medical services at the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Trans-Ekulu Enugu, attracted by the member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo federal constituency, Prof. Paul Nnamchi.
The Trans-Ekulu comprehensive medical outreach was the beginning of a four - day free medical outreach programme being organised by Prof Nnamchi as part of his people-oriented and impactful services to the electorates.
The Specialist doctors included general health practitioners, opthalmologists, Dentists, Nurses and pharmacists who attended to patients and made referrals, where necessary.
One of the patients, Chief Gabriel Nnaji, extolled the outreach programme, saying it was another demonstration of Prof Nnamchi's quality representation.
His words, "The doctor examined my eyes very well and recommended glasses for me. I actually do not have much problem with my eyes, except for reading. He also recommended some eye drops which were all given to me at the pharmacy section. So I thank Prof Nnamchi for his continued efforts."
Other medical examinations at the outreach included dental examination and treatment, malaria/ typhoid tests and treatment, and blood pressure as well as blood sugar tests and treatments.
According to Professor Nnamchi, the programmes were designed to cover six critical areas that had been identified as predominantly common ailments affecting majority of the populace across the country.
The outreach continues on Wednesday at Ikem, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area and returns to Akpoga- Nike Health Centre on Thursday, while Ehamufu in Isi Uzo Local Government will host the grand finale on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The outreach is being implemented on behalf of Prof Nnamchi, by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons, NCPMIDP.
