2027: Atiku's Camp Announces Merge Of Opposition Parties To Sack Tinubu's APC

The camp of former Vice President and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Atiku Abubakar, says it has merged with opposition parties to defeat the President Bola Tinubu- led All Progressives Congress APC, in 2027, describing the development as a done deal. Atiku's Special Assistant on Media, Abdulrasheed Shehu, who spoke through his X- handle on Friday night further noted that the merger "is sealed," adding that an alliance between the major opposition figures “is just about time.”

This is coming against the backdrop of  the Labour Party's, LP's, presidential hopeful and former governor of Anambra State,  Mr Peter Gregory Obi, harsh criticism of President Tinubu over the state of the nation, noting alleged institutional corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and an escalating debt profile of the country.
Although Obi said that there was no merger deal currently, he urged  all lovers of the country, irrespective of political affiliation, to unite and challenge the ruling APC, following its misrule.
Meanwhile, the reported merger is still shrouded in controversy.
Earlier before Obi’s media address, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in the 2023 election,
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had refuted rumours of any agreement with Atiku and Obi, adding that Atiku's camp had lied to some northern religious and political leaders about a purported agreement involving him and Obi to take turns at the presidency from 2027.
In 2024, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State,
Ismael Ahmed, addressed the potential impact of a coalition.
Ahmed who spoke on the Mic on Podcast, had earlier served as a special assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Development Programme, describing the alliance between Obi and Atiku as a “potential threat.”
